Yang Hee-young and Shin Ji-ae compete to participate in the Paris Olympics… their joys and sorrows are mixed

Yang Hee-young (pictured) joined the competition for the championship by moving into a joint fourth place on the second day of the European Women’s Golf Tour (LET) Aramco Saudi Ladies International (total prize money of $5 million).

Yang Hee-young shot a 2-under 70 with five birdies and three bogeys on the second day of the tournament at Riyadh Golf Club (par 72) in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia on the 16th (local time). Yang Hee-young, who lost two pars for two consecutive days, tied for fourth with a total of 4-under 140.

However, the 64-win veteran Shin was sluggish at 3-over 75 and was pushed into a tie for 59th with a combined 3-over 147. After making the cut with a pull-up, Shin has to push aggressively in the weekend round.

Yang Hee-young is ranked 15th and Shin Ji-ae 16th in the world. The two athletes must be in the top 15 by the entry deadline of June 24 to compete in the Paris Olympics in July.

Patty Tabatanakit (Thailand), who was in the lead on the first day, also reduced two strokes on the day, and took the lead by two strokes with an intermediate total of 10-under 134.

Thanks to the eagle at Hole 1 (par 4) that she moved to the LPGA Tour this season, she reduced three shots and tied for 17th with Nuggan (Thailand), beating Ashley Buhai (South Africa), Carlota Chida (Spain), and Juta Moriya.

Lee So-mi, who advanced to the LPGA Tour with Sung Yu-jin, played even par for two consecutive days and tied for 28th with Yuka Saso (Japan) and Lucy Lee (USA) with an even par of 144.

Last year’s KLPGA Tour Rookie of the Year Kim Min-byeol tied for 36th with Lexy Thompson of the U.S. with a 1-over 145 overall. 와이즈토토
