Professional golfer Ahn Byeong- hoon is disciplined for three months after taking cough medicine

Byeong-Hoon An , who plays on the PGA Tour, will be disciplined for three months for violating the anti-doping policy.

The PGA Tour announced on the 12th (Korean time), “Byung-Hoon An tested positive in a doping test due to the cough medicine he took in Korea, and will be suspended from competition for 3 months from August 31st. He can return to the tour on December 1st.” .

The PGA Tour added, “The cough medicine that Byung-Hoon An took contained ingredients banned by the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA),” and added, “Byung-Hoon An cooperated well with the doping test and accepted the disciplinary action.”

Byung-Hoon An, who has been disciplined, will not be able to participate in the currently held PGA Tour Fall Series.

Byung-Hoon An participated in 31 PGA Tour events in the 2022-2023 season and tied for second place at the Wyndham Championship held last August. His current world ranking is 53rd.

Byung-Hoon An, who won the 2009 U.S. Amateur Championship at the age of 17, also garnered attention by reaching the top of the European Professional Golf Tour’s BMW Championship in 2015.
